Apple glasses confirm for 2020

We were talking about a headset, but Apple should finally launch connected glasses in 2020. Eventually, the company would even consider that they replace the iPhone on a daily basis.

Apple is preparing to launch its own augmented reality glasses in 2020, according to new information published by Bloomberg. This information confirms those of Ming-Chi Kuo, a reputed analyst, who announced them for the second quarter of 2020.

These glasses, called "Apple ARGlasses" pending an official name, recall the Google Glass and integrate a holographic display. They can be synchronized with an iPhone to display over the real world messages, emails, maps of the Maps app or video games.

The glasses could replace the iPhone one day

Apple is thinking of creating an App Store specific to its new glasses, like those that already exist for iPhone, Mac, Apple Watch or Apple TV. The firm is currently recruiting graphic designers and game developers to make a reference in a new category of products, and perhaps one day the successor of the iPhone. These glasses, however, may face some competition, with similar products under development at Facebook and Amazon.

The site has also released new information on the upcoming iPhone, which will be compatible with 5G. It will also ship a more powerful processor, and a 3D camera at the back. The latter confirms the interest of Apple for augmented reality, since it will include better placement of virtual objects over the real world in augmented reality applications.
